REMIX 2012, IN MILAN

Swedish designer, Alexander Krantz, was awarded the Gold prize last night at REMIX, the International Fur Design competition at Alcatraz, in Milan. Alexander wowed the jury with his Blue Fox three quarter length coat with white bobby pin detailing. Alexander graduated from the Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm last May with a BA honours degree in Fashion and Design. He is currently working at H&M in Stockholm in their ladies trend department.

The jury selected Alexander’s innovative design, from 35 garments entered by other up- and-coming fur designers from North America, Europe, Russia and Asia.

The REMIX Silver prize and the OA special award went to Italian designer, Assunta Iorio for her chocolate brown mink off-the-shoulder jacket. She was inspired by the telescopic cup fold away cup. Lendrell Martin from US scooped the Bronze award with his alpine green sheared mink coat.

Cristina Ramirez Ruiz from Spain won the Pimp My Coat award, now in its second year. Cristina was inspired by the works of the artist Francis Bacon and his obsession with different shades of red. Over 50 designers submitted sketches this year, which can been viewed on IFTF’s Facebook page.  Pimp my Coat provides designers with the opportunity to remodel a vintage coat to reflect current fashion trends.
