Fur accessories & trimming played a major role at theIstanbul fair, as did small fashion pieces produced mainly in wild furs. It is important and interesting to note that the primary fur at the Istanbul Fair is not only the mink but a wide variety of wild furs; particularly muskrat, beaver, coyote, red fox, chinchilla and raccoon, china raccoon within the fashion industry.

The participation in the fair by mainly local leather & fur garments manufactures (fur being approximately 10% and leather & trimming 90% of the event) , as well as some international skin dealers, manufactures which has been steadily increasing recently.

This year Canada’s Fur Harvesters Auction Inc. was the first ever Auction House that participated in this fair and the CEO, Mark Downey was quite pleased with the interest in the fair.

Overall, the IDF-2012 Fur & Leather Fair was quite a successful fair. According to many manufacturer in the fair there were a lot of international buyers - mainly from Russia - and there were a lot of activity in almost all of the boots. We have spoken to 30-35 manufacturers at the fair, they all have taken orders mainly from international buyers from their previous clients, as well from new buyers which placed a tried orders with them.

The amount of fur & fur trimming products exhibited at the IDF, Istanbul Fair shows the growing importance of furs particularly wild furs; muskrat, beaver, coyote, red fox and raccoon within the fashion industry.
